GRIT OPS LLC is a Tennessee-based defense technology firm focused on protecting critical space infrastructure from the escalating threat of orbital debris. Founded in 2025, our mission is to enable secure and continuous satellite operations for defense, intelligence, telecommunications, and commercial imaging sectors.

We specialize in the detection, classification and remediation of intraorbital threats across low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), with solutions built at the intersection of physics, machine learning and operational systems engineering.

Founder’s Bio

Dr. Matthew P. Jones, Ph.D.
Founder & Principal, GRIT OPS LLC

Dr. Matthew P. Jones is a physicist, engineer, and defense technologist with over 15 years of experience spanning aerospace systems modeling, quantitative risk analysis and applied AI. He holds a Ph.D. in physics and an M.S. in mechanical engineering and is a cleared U.S. citizen with experience supporting Department of Defense initiatives.

Prior to founding GRIT OPS, Dr. Jones led multi-million dollar asset allocations as the CEO of a Registered Investment Advisory firm, where he applied advanced statistical techniques to financial markets. That analytical rigor now informs his approach to orbital mechanics and threat modeling.

Dr. Jones’ work is mission-driven—focused on securing the orbital environment through deployable, real-world solutions, not theoretical studies. His vision for GRIT OPS bridges the gap between machine learning, physics and defense-grade engineering. He is also the architect of a proprietary volatility modeling system and an AI-powered decision support platform for asset managers and government clients alike.
